On a beautiful, 70 degree Fall day, I watched sculls slice through the Charles River propelled by crew members rowing in sync.
Spectators cheered from along the banks of the river or over bridges. The occasional clang of cowbells egged on teams.
This was the Head of the Charles Regatta – an annual rowing competition on the Charles River separating Boston and Cambridge, MA.
The pattern of boats on the Charles made me think of modular Origami. I found an instructional video for the Umulius Rectangulum or Magic Rings.
The folding took a while and six dollar bills were needed. Two bills formed each of the two rings or links. It was rather satisfying to see how the three links fit together.
